Triggers and Risk Factors
Seizure triggers vary from person to person. Not everyone with epilepsy has identifiable triggers.
Common triggers may include
- Lack of sleep
- Stress or anxiety
- Missed medication
- Illness or fever
- Alcohol or substance use
- Flashing lights for some individuals
Remember
- Triggers are individual
- What affects one person may not affect another
- Avoid making assumptions about what caused a seizure
