To address the gap in public epilepsy awareness, our epilepsy charity hopes to use as many forms of media advertising to educate and raise awareness of epilepsy. We hope we can get as many of the public educated and understand what epilepsy is and what it looks like and what to do if someone is having a seizure. We hope that people already suffering from the illness will open up and talk about their condition and have no fear facing discrimination and isolation also most importantly people giving incorrect first aid advice.

Digital Billboard (AdVan)

We would use this type of advertising when we would park up in a pre-determined location to provide a high impact digital billboard.

This is great when we are targeting an audience at a select location or event such an epilepsy run or handing out leaflets. The Advan gives us the ability to move quickly between locations and get the message out in a city or a town.

Millions of people catch a train on a daily basis. It is a great opportunity to use this to raise epilepsy awareness.

It is one of the most effective way of reaching the public about different facts of the illness such as statistics of epilepsy, how many suffer from the condition, what to do if someone has a seizure, side effects of epilepsy, and other information as well as dispelling some myths regarding the illness.

Attention grabbing, colourful, and informative artworks will be effective way to engage people while they are on their train journey.

When raising the epilepsy awareness via national, local and regional newspapers, leaflets, brochures and trade and consumer magazines we are reaching a different target audience altogether where some time limits may be short and we may be targeting and engaging with the public of a specific geographic market and the public will be of a certain age group.

These characteristics allow us to target audiences in the most appropriate and efficient manner to meet our campaign objectives such as Purple Day or National Epilepsy Week.

Television Promotion

We hope to have funding that will allow us to maximise the potential of television exposure. We aim to participate in TV interviews particularly those that discusses health matters or produce adverts that are hard-hitting and to the point but ensuring that we conscious of the viewer and tread carefully about what we air.

We hope to provide insights and advertising adverts that not only raises awareness of important issues such as how to deal with someone who is having an epileptic seizure but also look at ways at aiming on finding new supporters for the charity who are vital to helping us to continue with our work. We will try to get the message across to the public how their donations are making a big difference to those who have been diagnosed with epilepsy for the first time.

People living with epilepsy meeting up for a coffee and having a chat.

Coffee and Chat

Coffee and chat groups are being set up all across the country. These give people living with epilepsy the chance to meet each other in ordinary venues like cafes, tea rooms and coffee shops.

They offer a relaxed way to meet new people, share epilepsy stories, experiences, and get information on how to learn more about epilepsy.

  • Bumper Sticker
  • Magnetic Signs

  • Vinyl Wrap

Social Media

By using all the different types of platforms on social media such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and Youtube our charity will reach a wider range of people suffering from epilepsy from all over the World. It will also allow them to share their stories, problems, ask questions and turn to someone knowing that they know how they feel.

Merchandise

Use of branded merchandise whether for sale, or as a giveaway, can help raise funds and increase brand awareness. There are tons of merchandise to choose from such as mugs, hats, pens, masks, t-shirts, phone cases, and more! Nowadays, almost any product can be branded with a logo or any print of your choice.

Raffle tickets for a raffle draw can help support epilepsy awareness

Competitions

Another way we hope to raise the awareness of epilepsy and raise funds for the charity is occasionally hold competitions such as raffle draws, lottery, challenges, puzzles, and online contests.

An incentive of a prize will be given to the winner donated kindly by a sponsor which can be an individual, a company, organisation, football team etc.

Fundraising

There are various ways for you to help raise funds towards our mission to support epilepsy awareness. We have list some suggestions below and you’re also more than welcome to contact me for more details or advice.

Do you have a head for heights? Why not abseil off the local tallest building or join in a group event to raise funds for your charity?

Why not get fit by organising an aerobics-athon? Get your family and friends involved too; it’s great to fundraise together!

Why not organise an auction? This could be as part of a bigger event or on its own. Your auction could be themed, for example, sports memorabilia or celebrity related. The only limitation is your imagination!

Many local shops/supermarkets let charities come in and pack bags, allowing you to ask their customers for donations. Why not pop in and find out if your local shop will support you on your quest!

Fancy getting on your bike? Why not ask friends, family and work colleagues to sponsor you.

Then why not organise a bingo evening? You don’t necessarily have to play for money; you could ask local businesses for prizes or if you fancy bingo.

Everyone loves cake so why not have a cake sale? Ask everyone to make a cake and then sell them by the slice or cake.

Why not offer to clean cars for a fee, or ask for a donation to your chosen charity. You could charge your friends, and family to wash their cars.

Coffee, tea, biscuits, and cakes make up a great coffee morning! You could do a coffee morning at home or alternatively find a local village or church hall to hold it in. Cake and bric-a-brac stands also work well at these types of events.

Dance all day in a sponsored dance-athon for sponsors or donations.

Why not hold a darts match in your local and ask the pub or a local business to donate a prize for the winner.

Are you up for an egg and spoon challenge? Race your friends and family. No cheating now!

Go crazy with the fashion ideas and create a zany masterpiece to wear for the day. Award prizes for the most outrageous, inventive or colourful costumes.

Why not put your creative talents to the test and organise a fashion show; you could invite the wider community to see your fabulous designs, and don’t forget to charge an entry fee.

Why not challenge your mates to a five-a-side tournament as part of a football fundraiser. Each team pays to play.

Why not dust off your running shoes and challenge yourself to a run? It could be a half marathon, full marathon, or why not sign up for events.

Keen golfer? Why not organise a golf day or competition?

A great one for the office; collect baby photos and then charge people to enter and guess who is who. The one who guesses the most right wins a prize. In the event of a draw add the names to a hat.

Growing your hair? Why not shave it off in return for sponsorship and/or donations?

Reduce, reuse and recycle; the perfect opportunity to hold a jumble sale. A great way to turn your trash into cash!

Enjoy singing? Why not get on the microphone and hold a karaoke evening. Maybe your local pub or club might like to get involved.

Do you enjoy line dancing? Why not organise an evening and charge a fee to those who want to come along?

Get yourselves sponsored on a mass litter pick afternoon and look after the local environment too.

Test those budding Olympians and hold a mini Olympics. Make it fun; you could even make up your own fun events!

Are you talented? Do you know someone who is? Why not put on your own show?

Why not get a local business to donate a big teddy and hold a ‘name the teddy’ competition. You could come up with a list of names where people can buy the name that they think it is called. You can then give the teddy as the prize.

Have fun with an obstacle course and get sponsored too.

Turn your non-uniform/work clothes day into an odd clothes day; mix up those socks and ‘clash for cash’.

Could you jump out of a plane up to 15,000 ft up? If you could then why not jump for us and ask for sponsorship. It’s a great challenge; if you dare!

Could you give up smoking or eating sweets? Maybe you are a choc-o-holic? Why not ask for friends and family to sponsor you for giving up on your vice?

Keen at general knowledge? Why not organise a quiz night?

Hold a race night and have fun seeing if your horse wins. You don’t have to do it for money; use fun money and the person with the most money at the end is the winner of a prize.

Why not hold a raffle and ask for donated prizes.

What’s your spelling like? Why not organise a spelling competition or spell-anthon? Challenge yourself to a certain number of words and why not get sponsored too?

Why not get sponsored per length swum?

Hold a contest to showcase the talents of your friends and family! Organise a collection or charge at the door for entry.

Keen singer? Maybe you are into magic or dancing? Put on a show and charge entry to watch.

Are you a keen walker? Why not plan your route and charge others to come with you or sponsor you.

Celebrate all your talents by putting on a show; Britain’s definitely got talent. Organise your own talent show and invite friends and family too.

Why not dress up wild and whacky in the office or work place? Maybe you want to wear clashing colours or your favourite pyjamas; the choice is yours! Charge everyone a fee to take part.
